This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher and the students age range is 7 to 8 years old. The class is comprised of a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Also some students are on different academic level. The students are eager to learn and willing to work hard. A lot of them are above level in reading but few still need improvement , we need to improve our reading center so my students can read with confidence during independent reading time. I have a very high-energy class with many strong personalities. Many of my students avoid reading activities altogether because they are frustrated or embarrassed about their reading level. Couple of my students are also in need of timer in order for them to finish their work. We usually use headphones during our math lab for extra practice.

Some students are not able to participate because of the lack of supplies.

These materials will help my students to succeed on a daily basis.

My Project

The products that I have selected will help my students grow academically. By giving my students The Flex Space Lounge , we will create a more effective Reading Center. Students will feel comfortable during independent reading without worrying about other students looking at them. The timer will be extremely beneficial for my students that just need to know how fast they can beat the timer while finishing their work. And Finally the headphones can be easily used in many areas of the classroom. I have seen how the a small choice can positively impact the growth of a student. I will appreciate if my project is funded.
