Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the future. I want to give my students the skills and tools to become engaged, inquisitive lifelong learners who have both the knowledge and the understanding to be positive leaders in our global world.
I teach Pre-Kindergarten in an international magnet program in an urban public school serving students of diverse national heritages, languages, and cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Our class is almost a mini United Nations, and I encourage the children to develop personal cultural awareness, as well as respect, and appreciate the amazing diversity of the world around them. I teach a diverse group of students with various levels, needs, and interests. All of my students are curious and enthusiastic. They are filled with questions about themselves and the world around them. My students learn best through exploration and play, and I find that their learning experience is more meaningful and potent when they are having fun.
My Project
Technology is an important part of our classroom learning environment and an inspiring and fun way to get my students engaged in lessons on literature, math and science. I want to integrate high quality technology tools in my classroom to give my students the best early learning experience possible.
I want to increase student engagement in all areas through the use of high-tech, fun, educational software and a subscription to the digital children's book library One More Story.
The Lakeshore Learning Interactive Game software will be used in whole group lessons, small group, free-choice centers as well as small intervention groups. This software is fun and educational and will get the children active and excited about learning.
I will use the online subscription to One More Story during whole group instruction as a Reading and Listening Center on my class iPads. My students are emergent readers and are at a crucial moment in their lives when it comes to attitudes about reading. Most of my students cannot read on their own; therefore the online library, One More Story, is a great way to encourage my students to go to the Reading and Listening Area and "read" a book in an enjoyable way.
These fun, educational, high-tech materials will help to give my students the strong foundational skills they need to succeed.
