Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students have Small Group (3-4 students) and Whole Group time where we do songs, playing and learning as a large group. We want more opportunities for individualized learning, which a tablet will help us do!

Our class is an ESL class, which means we have 9 out of our 18 students whose first language is not English.

Our preschool program is also state-funded so most of our children come from low-income, high-risk backgrounds. They need routine, stability, and people to show they care. These low-income students also don't have the technology resources many other children are using today. We as their teachers, work hard to show them that learning is fun, and want to continue doing so by introducing them to new, technological ways of learning.

My Project

A Fire Kids tablet would allow us to give each student a curriculum designed only for their learning level, while having fun and playing games. Tablets have creative math games, literacy games, and will help with fine motor skills. We could use these for one on one work the students, work they can do on their own, or use them for Small Group demonstrations. This particular tablet also comes with access to thousands of books that our children can enjoy while working on many skills such as comprehension, vocabulary, etc.

Donations will allow us to gain access to these resources that we normally would not be able to use.

They will increase our student's level of learning, and expand upon their technology awareness. My student's will be excited to use our new tablet and will not be able to wait for their turn!
