My Students

My students live in a rugged and beautiful town. We live next to the gorgeous Monongahela National Forest nestled in a valley. Our students have close relationships with the land around them.

We love to learn about our world through personal and unique experiences.

We work to understand the people, places, and things around us. My students are creative and hungry for knowledge. We have limited resources available in our school, so we have to be creative to maximize every opportunity for each of our amazing students.

My Project

My students are learning middle school math skills and concepts under myriad circumstances right now. Some are learning from home. Some learn in-person at school. Some learn on a hybrid schedule. Due to COVID19 students and teachers are asked to be flexible to change the entire system at a moment's notice. Despite these challenges, I believe that my students' education must continue no matter what. This means that we need the proper tools to engage our students near and far.

I am requesting an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil which will allow me to create content, engage with students in real time and asynchronously to address their individual needs.

Middle school is often a time when students lose confidence in their math skills and I want to make sure they continue to feel successful in pursuing challenging work wherever they are. I plan to create individual videos using Flipgrid and Explain Everything, while embedding them in an Nearpod, an interactive platform. My students will be able to participate in class from nearly anywhere.
