High School Students Receiving Counseling Services Matter
Help me give my students the proper learning utensils to access their education. I am requesting basic material such as crayons, composition books, and pencils to ensure that my students are not left without.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My high schoolers are resilient individuals who each bring something special to the classroom. Due to various reasons my students receive most of their lesson in a Special Day Class setting. Working in a smaller counseling enriched setting allows my students to tap into their strengths.
Despite having personal challenges my students continue to display resilience.
They are strong self advocates, who verbalize when they don't understand; at times requesting topics to be explained differently.
Their resilience consistently shines through.
My Project
Being able to provide my student with the basic school supplies such as as crayons, markers, color pencils, and composition books will double as a way for my students to feel confident about their abilities in other classrooms.
Composition books will be used to provide an interactive space for student voice the personal challenges they may be having.
I hope to raise the students cultural consciousness and awareness of self with the implementation of Soundless Cries Don't Lead to Healing.
Art material will allow for student to create colorful material that can be used to illustrate posters and other study material related to lessons in my classroom and others.
The overall goal is for students to develop positive ways to communicate their angst and happiness with the world.
