This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
This is my second year working for Chicago Public Schools. I work with a diverse group of students between the ages of three and eighteen in four different schools in the south and west sides of the district. All of the students that I work with are African American, Latinx, and/or Arabic from low-income households who have specialized needs that supports their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). My students have a variety of needs, including receptive-expressive language delays/disorders, articulation/speech intelligibility impairments, phonological processing errors, stuttering, and social language delays.
My students are attentive, eager to learn, and have the potential to make progress towards attaining their speech and language goals given high quality, data-driven therapy.
The office that we currently work in is drab, dingy, and just plain sad. Help me motivate my students by giving them a new and exciting place to work on their speech goals.
