They come from every imaginable background, and bring with them the strength of their diversity into the classroom. They are artists, musicians, computer programmers, novelists, designers, and humanitarians.
Our students recognize the value in their working and learning because they have agency over them.
We build this agency through authentic project-based learning that seeks to deepen and enrich their connections to their community.

My Project
When we started our high school program this year, we didn't have physical education. Although we weren't required to have it, and it strained our small school to provide, students and teachers decided together that physical activity was a must.
Teachers have taken on the role of physical educators with gusto!
The English and Spanish teacher are running a Zoomba class, the history and resource teachers are running a basketball league, and the science teacher's crossfit conditioning class has developed a reputation for getting students "swoll".
We just need more equipment. This project is for some basic sports balls: football, basketball, and soccer. More equipment means more exercise for everyone.
