Mrs. London from Duluth GA is requesting Books through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

High Quality Writing Mentor Texts

My students need really good mentor texts to improve their ability to write across several genres. These are all books to give them exposure to each kind of genre they are expected to learn.

My Students

I have the joy of teaching in the most diverse public elementary school in the state of Georgia. With that in mind that means my students come from all sorts of cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. I want to help them get the exposure to literature that they so love and desire.

My students are energetic, excited, and enthusiastic about their own learning each and every day they come to school.

I want to open their eyes to a variety of mentor texts to improve their writing ability.

My Project

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and are expected to learn to write across several genres. In my kindergarten class, students are exposed to narrative, informational, persuasive, and poetry writing. We need more books in the students' hands to give them the opportunity to learn how to write across all genres. The books on this list cover a variety of genres to expose the students to each genre they are expected to learn how to utilize in our kindergarten class.

I want to provide them with several mentor texts in all different genres so they can learn from them and use these books to acquire the knowledge in their own daily writing.
