High Quality Virtual Learning & Tele-Therapy During Covid19
Help me give my students access to high quality technology and virtual therapy materials for tele-therapy during Covid19. A new IPAD will allow me to use many Apps on a daily basis to engage students and track progress!
I am a speech therapist working in a Title 1 elementary school. I work with a variety of different students, some of whom have mild communication needs in articulation (e.g. learning to say their /r/ or /s/ and some of whom have severe communication needs such as being nonverbal and requiring an electronic device to communicate. My students are vibrant, engaging, and always put a smile on my face. They come from a variety of different socioeconomic backgrounds. Some of my students come from families that are transient and often experience food and shelter insecurities. I serve the general education classrooms in my school as well as two 'Intensive Skills' classrooms which are designed to teach our students with more profound needs.
My Project
These materials will help me provide virtual services and teletherapy to the 47 -50+ students on my caseload this year! Many of the materials I am asking for will also transfer into the classroom & office once we can get back to the school building. Because I work on the communication skills and often will try to engage with students who have the most difficulty engaging in communication, it is very important that I am able to see and hear my students clearly & that they are able to see and hear me clearly (e.g. earphones with boom microphone). In addition, It is imperative that I have engaging activities and tools with which I can entice my students to do that which does not come easy to them, communicate (e.g. Ipad for speech-language apps such as Articulation Station and Speech Tutor). Because I work with a wide range of ages: kinder - 5th grade, it is also very important that I have access to a wide range of age-appropriate materials, tools, and rewards (e.g. IPad for games & apps as well as stylus pen to track data and make real-time visuals for my students).
