My Students

This year we have approximately 965 students, but that changes almost daily. Last year we had over 1000. The school is spread out across three separate buildings and houses three grades. The school is located in a rural/suburban area, so the students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Approximately 38% of our students receive free/reduced lunch. We are a Leader in Me School and a WV Exemplary school. Our school mission is "All students can lead and achieve."

My Project

Most of our students have joined the nationwide movement and are carrying reusable water bottles instead of using plastic bottles of water. The downside is that our water fountains make it almost impossible to fill up those bottles. Water ends up sloshed in the floor and the bottles are no more than halfway full. This will allow our students (and staff) to easily fill their bottles, stay hydrated, and take a needed step toward a healthy lifestyle. It will also prevent students from having to fill their water bottles in the restroom sinks. Hopefully, this will help eliminate the spread of germs.
