My students are ages 3-5 years old with varying exceptionalities in a self-contained classroom for developmental delays. All students receive Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech and Language Services. All of my students have communication needs and are learning to use gestures, signs, core boards, and words to communicate. All of my students have IEP goals and objectives to meet their unique needs in and outside the classroom. My classroom has students working towards curriculum learning goals, social emotional goals, independent functioning goals, communication goals, and health goals. We are striving to work towards mastery of pre-kindergarten standards to be ready for kindergarten.
My Project
Having high-quality books in preschool allows us to learn about our feelings, the world, number concepts, seasons, and weather. Having a book easel/bin storage unit allows us to store our books in a safe efficient manner. Books take us places and allows us to expand our verbal skills and pre-reading skills. Preschoolers are chatty, curious, and enjoy learning from shared reading activities. Books allows us to strengthen and build our growing vocabulary and allows us to grasp language skills. Having board books in PK allows our books to last longer. Big books are better for read-alouds and whole group activities. Books build our brains to get ready for kindergarten and beyond.
