Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am teaching research and literacy to my students who need 21st century skills, although our schools materials and resources are 20th century!! I have students who are tech savvy, definitely street smart, who have goals, dreams, and aspirations that are out of this world.
New York, urban Title I public school with majority of students who living at or below the poverty line.
Very creative, intelligent, and wonderful! I teach in a very diverse school, with students who come from a variety of racial/ethnic, national, and linguistic backgrounds. Our school is as diverse as our country!
My Project
I'm teaching my students how to annotate, analyze texts, read for a specific purpose, and present information using a variety of modalities, unfortunately this requires technology, simply a laptop to connect to a projector. Not having this resource at my current school, and knowing what a huge difference it made in the quality and enhancement of instruction I was able to give students at my former school, I know my kids are seriously missing out on valuable learning opportunities without me having a functional laptop to use during instruction!
I am teaching my students how to read and college and career ready.
In this day and age, the economy is increasingly competitive, as is access to higher education. My goal is to use technology to enhance student achievement and this computer is a make or break difference in our classroom!
