My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and socio-economic situations. My students belong to a small school on the beautiful island of Kauai that helps teach them to be successful independent learners. Even though many of our students face daily hardships I inspire them to learn through play, imagination, cooperation, and problem solving. My students are always excited to learn and always come to school with a huge smile on their face. It's seeing these smiles daily that makes it so rewarding to teach, learn, and grow with them!

My Project

My class needs a new class set of the book "Tales Of the Odssey" by Mary Pope Osbourne. This book is full of short stories based on the Greek Mythology of the Greek Gods and great warrior Odessue. The students are engaged while reading this high level text. Students are introduced to greek words, concepts, beliefs, and myths while building vocabulary and comprehension. This is the one book that every year my students are genuinely engaged in reading because of the high interest stories. With this book I as a teacher am able to provide meaningful learning for my students.
