High Interest Texts to Spark High Interest Learning
My students need high interest texts to help further their learning in all subjects. High interest texts around every academic topic exposes them to the concept that reading is essential to all aspects of learning.
Education no longer fits inside of a cookie cutter shape. I work hard to create a classroom that fits the needs of many different learners.
My classroom is full of eager learners who are ready to make the most of each day!
They are full of energy and excitement for everything in life. My future fifth grade classroom is full of diverse learners from all areas of life. They come from diverse backgrounds and different academic levels and experiences, but they all have one thing in common: a joy for learning!
When students are given what they need to be successful, they learn. When they feel that success, they become confident! Children are the next tomorrow, and it is our job to make sure they are getting exactly what they need to be successful. My school and staff works hard to meet the needs of the individual child as well as encourage each child to reach their full potential.
My Project
My students will use the various Scholastic Magazines to further their reading comprehension as well as their understanding of the world. We will use Scholastic News, Science Spin, and Geography Spin to complete weekly lessons on science and social studies current events to improve their literacy skills including reading fluency, comprehension, and building vocabulary. My students will have hands-on learning opportunities with their own copy of the magazines, as well as the interactive digital lessons and activities that are a part of the subscriptions. My students will have magazines to learn in the classroom and reading material to take home.
They will be able to make real-world connections regarding their learning.
5th graders spend their day trying to understand the why behind their learning and by providing them with texts that simply show the why, they will become further invested in their learning Not only that but they can take the magazines home to use for homework assignments and to share their learning with their families - which will help build the school and home life connection. The Scholastic magazines will offer fun and informative articles that will help my students become engaged, proficient, and worldly readers.
