My students are sixth grade students exploring the endless opportunities within reading and writing. With a variety of academic needs present in our community, we have a "real world" mix of students. Our school strives to lead a community of excellence, regardless of student background or challenges. We want our kids to feel connected to the real world and the events going on around us in order to learn more about ourselves and each other. I am committed to making connections for my students so they can create more worldly opportunities to become successful outside of school.
My Project
Many of my students struggle to find texts that are within their preferred genre for reading while also being modern and relevant to their lives. This list of books are all popular and best-selling young adult novels that we are missing from our classroom library.
The majority of the books listed have been specifically requested by my students to keep in our classroom library.
In an effort to get students excited about reading and to encourage them to begin and finish several books throughout our school year, maintaining a popular and diversified classroom library is essential. As these books enter our classroom library, they will be passed on between students as they explore, read, and recommend.
