High Interest Reading Materials That Engage the Struggling Learner
Help me give my students high interest reading materials to improve their reading skills that include practice with summarizing, making inferences, and identifying the theme and main idea of a text.
My students are full of energy and can be easily distracted if they're not interested in the topic they're learning. They enjoy reading informational texts about various topics.
Unfortunately, our classroom library does not have enough engaging, age appropriate, high interest reading materials for them to read.
My students are full of questions and truly engaged in their reading when they read a text they're interested in. Having the opportunity to give them what they would enjoy reading is incredibly exciting.
My Project
The kits and texts I have selected will give students a variety of different resources to choose from such as; activities that include reading skills that use short articles about sports, natural disasters, and modern wonders of the world etc. Reading skills that are covered with these items are summarizing, identifying the theme and main idea, and making inferences.
Your donations will give me the opportunity to help my students become successful learners in all content areas.
Students need opportunities to read texts that are shorter in length, of high interest, and have practice with the reading skills they need to strengthen.
