My Project

A well-stocked classroom library filled with high-interest books supports their growth as readers and thinkers. It also helps foster a reading culture where students feel seen, heard, and encouraged to explore new ideas.

I’ve worked to make my classroom a print-rich environment where reading feels both accessible and meaningful.

The classroom library is a space where students read independently, collaborate on assignments, and take a break from their busy days to dive into a good book. I regularly read excerpts aloud, recommend titles, and make space for conversation around books. It’s a place where reading is valued and choice matters.

Each book added to my library is chosen with my students in mind. I’ve observed what they’re drawn to and listened when they tell me what they want to read—whether it’s contemporary fiction, graphic novels, or nonfiction. They treat our library with care and appreciation, knowing it’s a resource created just for them.

With the addition of new high-interest books, my students will have even more opportunities to find books that match both their reading levels and personal interests. When teenagers are given the freedom to choose what they read, they’re far more likely to engage deeply and build lifelong reading habits.

Independent reading is one of the best ways to strengthen literacy skills, and I’ve already seen how motivated my students are when they have the right books in their hands. These new titles will help enrich their reading lives and continue to grow their confidence as capable, independent readers.
