The students that walk through my classroom door on the first day of school forever become, "my kids." Even when they come back to visit years later, I still think of them as "my kids."
I want the best for my students in every aspect of their education.
I teach at a school that serves lower income families (over 60% are on free or reduced price lunches) and roughly 65% are English learners. They have diverse backgrounds and speak several different languages. It is one of my goals to celebrate all of our differences my students bring to the classroom, our school, and community.
My students read independently everyday, and my classroom library is in shambles...these books will give it a much needed boost!
These books will allow my student easy access to high interest, grade level reading material to utilize during our Daily 5 reading program.
One of our classroom goals is for each student to increase their reading levels (many are below). We've been working very hard at this goal, but it is difficult when students don't have access to books within the classroom-many have to wait until our once a week library day. I would like to give them the opportunity to switch out their books when they finish, and not once a week.
