Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students consist of two classrooms of 24 students, many of whom come from homes where English is a second language. Despite this, my students are really enjoying their independent reading time during our daily Reader’s Workahop. We spent a lot of time over the last month determining what “just right” books are for each individual student. They are look forward to their just right reading time daily, but are in great need of some more high-interest chapter books series to keep the momentum going.

My Project

These high-interest chapter books will engage students and expand their love of reading. It will help them learn that reading can be extra fun when you find the right books. My students are really enjoying their independent reading time during our daily Reader’s Workshop. We spent a lot of time over the last month determining what “just right” books are for each individual student. They look forward to their just right reading time daily, but are in great need of some more high-interest chapter books series to keep the momentum going. Any donations towards our cause would be greatly appreciated!
