This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hungry for information about the world around them. They are interested in real life literature. They are super at asking questions and researching for the information.

Our school is a fantastic place of learning!

The students are caring, motivated kids that deserve the best reading material they can place their eyes on! Many people have said our school is a place of caring, where everyone is welcome. Students really love to come to our school. Teachers set high expectations for learning aligned to 21st century skills.

My Project

These two sets of high interest non fiction books will be used with struggling readers to help them meet and exceed grade level reading levels. They will be used during small group instruction, that will be focused on reading comprehension. Students will use the books to help them respond to the literature by using text evidence from the books.

This project will make a difference in my students' lives because one way to improve reading comprehension is to provide students with text that are at their interest levels.

The common core relates this to having a well balanced reading program. In short, this project will help my student be more motivated to improve their reading.
