My students need hardcover books and various higher level center activities, whch focus on phonics such as Beginning Blends & Digraphs, Word Patterns and Simple Sentences Instant Learning Centers to capitalize on their learning.
Do you know what it is like to see the light bulb turn on for children? It is magical! Many of my Kindergarten students have grasped early reading skills and are ready to begin reading more advanced books. These books and materials will help keep them FLYING and EXCITED about READING!
The students in my class come from a wide variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Some have many more resources than others. My school is classified as "high poverty". We often find a lack of parent support required to help students reach their highest potential. The students in my class are eager learners and take great pride in each milestone they pass. We celebrate each success along our journey together.
My Project
The resources that I have chosen for this project will enable my students to capitalize on the early literacy skills they have learned this year. My students need hardcover books and various higher level center activities. Some of my students are ready for the higher level (first grade) activities that I have chosen. The center activities I have requested focus on phonics which is the foundation for learning to read. As a teacher, it is my job to know my children and to support and challenge them. I also strive to build excitement and challenge them as far as they can go. I have the opportunity to kindle their love of learning. Having these higher level materials will help me help them SOAR like little eagles!
The project is critical.
As a 1st year teacher I came into my classroom with virtually nothing. I have collected many materials for the at-risk and average students but desperately need higher level materials. The donations for this project will greatly impact not only the students in my class now, but the students that I will have in the future. All of the items I chose are non-consumable and can be used for many years to enrich the reading lives of new fledgling readers. THANK YOU!
