Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids are full of curiosity, feelings, and energy. We are quickly developing a family like community where we show interest in all of the members in our group. We have a brand new preschool program with busy hands and bodies that are ready to be engaged in learning through play, exploration, creativity, routine, peer interaction and plenty of dialogue and music. We focus on language and cognitive development, creativity, explorations, hands-on projects (no worksheets whatsoever), team building, gross motor development and coordination. We enjoy singing, dancing, painting, pretend play and active outdoor play.
My Project
Outdoor play is healthy and fun. Our outdoor playground will soon have an outdoor floor hockey set and beanbag toss game but it will still lack equipment. My students need outdoor play equipment that will help them develop coordination, gross motor skills and team building skills. Having outdoor play equipment like a basketball stand will help my students develop and reinforce these skills. When students develop strength, coordination and team building skills they begin to have more confidence. As students engage in outdoor activities they are using strength, speed, calculation of distance and anticipation. These are all great ways to directly learn about math and science concepts. Additionally, through the use of outdoor equipment, students learn how to take turns and cheer for their friends, thus developing a team dynamic.
