My Students

I serve some very bright-eyed students. These students are hungry for information. It's my job they get fed on a daily, no hourly, basis. I have a duty to help these students find their voice, discover their passions, and bring real-world skills to both.

We have done marvelous things in class, and I want this to continue with the new batch of students I'll be serving this year.

But, that means we often need help from people outside our class to see this occur.

My Project

We are about to dive into the subject of the Civil War. We try to link what we read to what we study in the content areas. This text, Behind Rebel Lines, will allow the students to experience the war, like no other. We will get to journey into the Civil War as a spy!

Having text of this nature helps us connect our world to the past.

Having a main character in the same age-range, allows us to really feel the emotions of the war. Yes, we may learn the facts, but it is this type of text that really hits home.
