Our school is located in Brooklyn and serves Pre-K to 5th grade. The majority of young learners at our New York City school receive free and reduced-price lunch. Our first-grade class is made up of 25 goofy, kind, and bright students.
Not only are the students exciting to be around, but they are also some of the most caring, hardworking, and curious first graders who act daily as change-makers, bringing a multicultural lens into the classroom.
As their teacher, I strive every day to motivate my students to achieve their highest potential through music and imagination!
This class set of Hidden Figures: The True Story of Four Black Women and the Space Race will engage my young readers to learn and explore the space race history, as well as what impacts it had on black people, especially women. This will urge us to explore how they did this while being a woman and black limited the opportunities for women of color. These four women broke down those barriers. My students will use these during our Women's History Month study. We appreciate your support of public school students and cannot wait to start learning about these barrier breakers. Thank you again for your continued support!
