This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Where's the cheese to feed the mouse? That may seem like a silly question today but remember when you first were introduced to a computer? Many students today have not even had access to a computer!

Most of my students live in a low income housing unit.

But the housing unit is located in a middle class neighborhood with a high cost of living. Many of these families have fled the inner city to put their kids in a safe neighborhood. But they struggle to pay the high rents and food costs in this area. Fortunately they attend the local public school which is free.

My Project

There are over 35 students in my class. There are 5 computers and one iPad they all have to share. I hope to get more computers, especially laptops in there over the years. I'd like to get at least one more laptop so more kids can do research, type papers, and improve their tech skills.

We assume kids are experts in technology.

However, many kids from low income homes only see a computer one day a week. How can they compete in today's economy? How can they get that better paying job that will end the cycle of poverty? Help us get 1 computer. Thanks.
