I am an Early Intervention Teacher for first grade in our district. Our Early Intervention program helps to identify students who are struggling or are in danger of falling behind in school. We identify those students, assess their reading skills, and then create interventions to get them caught up. Our goal is to have them on grade level in reading by the end of first grade.
Our program's goal is to give individual attention to students who need extra support so that they are not automatically identified for special education.
Instead, we give them the help and attention that they need to succeed.
My Project
In the next school year, I will be moving classrooms and need some new seating, materials and books for our new space and for the new school year.
We are starting fresh and can never have enough books to read, flexible seating, or materials!
Students will benefit from having new books to read that are in the direct interest of first graders. We will also be working on Growth Mindset and I will be promoting strong minds with our new Strong Minds book!
My classroom already has some flexible seating with wiggle stools and cushions. I would like to add a yoga ball chair as a choice so that my more active students can bounce and read at the same time. Movement helps promote student learning and growth.
We also need some materials, such as headphone extenders for our iPads, bingo dobbers for sight word activities, and dry erase paper for our table.
