My third-grade classroom is a place for inquiry and questioning. My students work hard every day, pushing themselves to become internationally minded citizens, that live to be lifelong learners.
We are an International Baccalaureate school, in a low-income suburban area.
Some of my students are faced with challenges that many cannot fathom, but them come to school enthusiastic to learn every day. We have a high Hispanic population with other races in the minority.
Your help will be greatly appreciated in helping to fund our project!
My students love to have flexibility in how and where they work. In fact, you will never find my students working "where they are supposed to be." You will typically find them sprawled on the floor, bouncing on a yoga ball, or sitting at a lap desk. Don't let that fool you though, every single one is engaged in their learning!
Offering a variety of work spaces increases focus and engagement.
In fact, research has shown dramatic increases in concentration, according to Fast Company (2015), and students become more attentive when using a standing desk. A standing desk will give them the opportunity to find a place in our class to work standing up. The added kick-bar will allow them to get their wiggles out.
