Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Hispanic students represent 34% of our school. All are native Spanish speakers from Mexico and other Latin American countries trying to achieve the American dream. My students work hard to become bilingual speakers, readers and writers. They are spunky, top-notch collaborators in their learning endeavors.
Home of the Amazing Appleknockers!
Our school is located in a small farming community that is known for their peaches and apple orchards as well as our vineyards. My students' families who have come here to work the orchards have become an integral part of the social fabric of our community.
My Project
My K through fifth grade students are second or third generation Hispanics living in a rural All-American town where it is sometimes hard to find their place and identify themselves in the stories that they read at school.
These books will enable my students to identify themselves with the characters and inspire them to face challenges and overcome barriers.
Therefore, please consider donating to this project. These books will be an encouragement for these young minds to dream and set life goals to make a difference in this world despite the obstacles they might face.
