I am happy to be spending my 22nd year teaching 5th grade with this group of dynamic students. They are energetic and enthusiastic. Their love for learning is evident in the excitement they show when introduced to a new topic that we will be studying.
My students are supportive of one another and enjoy working together.
When somebody has a question about something another student is often the first to respond to their classmate and give a helping hand. I admire their willingness to take risks and their enthusiasm as learners.
My Project
I currently use Seesaw.com as an avenue for my students to electronically post work for their parents to see. I assign an activity and the students complete it. After I review and approve their work, their parents are notified that there is something for them to look at. Parents can see their child's work and hear their voice while they are away from them. Each student's journal is seen by only their parents.
In an effort to post to the Seesaw Blog and show all parents what is going on classroom-wide, I would love to have an IPad so the students can assist me in taking class photos and uploading them directly to the Seesaw Blog, with a caption about what we are doing in class.
I currently use my personal phone for this, so my students cannot be involved in the process. Involving my 5th graders will make parent communication more meaningful and more frequent.
