My Students

My students are engaged and excited learners who are ready for their 1st grade year! My students are very diverse with many different cultural and language backgrounds. They are kind, smart and always ready to celebrate small and big wins within our classroom community.

My students are engaged, enthusiastic, energetic learners who are always ready to share new information that they have learned.

They are active in their learning and love teaching each other new things. We've had so much fun exploring 1st grade.

My Project

We've seen so much growth and learning in our students’ reading and writing skills because of our reading and writing curriculum. It's our 4th successful year teaching Lucy Calkins Readers and Writers Workshop Units of Study. Since we have been using these Units of Study we are wanting to use their new Phonics curriculum so that it coincides with our reading and writing units. Phonics plays a huge role in student's ability to spell, decode and become literate learners. This comprehensive spelling, phonics and word study curriculum will help students transfer what they learn about phonics to their reading and writing.
