Hello. Thank you for your interest in my project. I am fortunate to be a teacher at an amazing school with about 300 students. We are in the desert and have a lovely view of the mountains from our campus. The small size of our school helps to create a strong sense of community among the staff, students and community members.
Reading comprehension is an essential component of the children's education.
They need high interest texts that will engage them. I have found a wonderful site called Teachers Pay Teachers that sells many of these type of books that aid in reading comprehension.
My Project
I am requesting a $100 gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers. One resource I hope to buy with this card is called All in one reading passages. This bundle contains 8 sets of beginner readers. These texts cover every phonics skill taught in the first and second grade curriculum. The passages are cleverly written. They are short yet captivating. Each story also contains a comprehension quiz.
What makes these books so appealing is there ability to engage the students on many levels.
The books can be used in a whole group or small group setting. I've reviewed these books and feel they would be an invaluable teacher resource. I can't wait to use them!
