My Students
My students come from a small rural area in Oregon. They've grown up with diverse backgrounds. Some come from large farming properties, some economically disadvantaged, others are modest middle class families. One thing they all have in common is a curiosity for learning and a desire to express their learning in inventive ways. Several of them have had traumatic histories they are working to overcome. I want each and every one of them to be able to get excited about learning and feel the accomplishment of learning and being able to share that learning with others.
My Project
My students are fortunate to have access to Chromebooks this year to help them complete school assessments, research for projects, create interactive presentations, and practice our math skills.
However we need headphones to help us be more productive in these tasks, and less disruptive to other students in the room.
Headphones would allow my students to fully immerse themselves in their creations or the math sites we visit. These headphones will get them 'in the zone' for thinking and learning.
Headphones with microphones would do even better and allow some of my students with physical or other challenges the opportunity to participate in our writing projects via a talk type program. This amazing program provides students with barriers to writing the ability to speak their ideas aloud and have their great thoughts almost magically recorded for them.
These headphones would make access to technology and learning easier and more functional, to benefit all the students in my classroom.
