My school is proud to be a Leader in Me school that works on taking the 7 habits of author Steven Covey, making them age-appropriate and working them into our school campus so that students begin to see their campus as a way to show leadership.
Leader in Me is not a curriculum but rather a way of doing life on the school campus through awareness of how we learn and grow and how we speak and treat one another.
Students learn the habit of solving conflicts and then they become conflict managers. This is just one way the Leader in Me program looks on our campus. Students take the 7 Habits that are taught to them and begin to think of ways they can take ownership of their campus through leadership. Whether it's a 5th grader helping a 1st grader to read, students setting goals and overcoming academic obstacles, or students seeing a need to clean their campus, these are all ways that the 7 Habits teach students to lead.
My Project
The 2018-19 school year is going to be here before we know it. I am motivated to make this school year the best year yet. This project will provide materials for my students to start the school year off with success.
I am requesting a gift certificate to Really Good Stuff and a gift card to TeacherPayTeachers website.
On Really Good Stuff, I want to get some multiplication bracelets, welcome banner, and ready-to-decorate pennants for my students to use in class. On TeachersPayTeachers website, I am going to get some animal lap books for my students to use during a research unit.
I am also requesting a 3 Tier shelf to store our robots we use for Fun Friday. This shelf allows my students to use and keep organized on their own. I am also requesting journals, like Reading Comprehension, Math Strategies Journal and Solve & Explain journal, for my students to use during afternoon class time to supplement morning lessons on Reading and Math. The wall clock will go with our Sailor theme and be used for telling time lessons during math. There are other, smaller items in the cart, that will also go with the beginning of the school year, like the lanyards for Brag Tags, goldfish to do a math project, and goldfish and swedish fish to welcome the students with a 3rd grade brag tag that reads, "Officially a 3rd Grader!"
