Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the best job in the world! Being a school librarian is a rewarding and exciting job. There are many times that my students have come to the library discussing new projects they would like to try at home in coding, creating and even robotics. The students enjoy reading so much they are always asking for the most recent titles in the library! The School Library is no longer the place where students just sit and read.
As we create 21st-century students with a lifelong love of learning, they are eager to dive into new books and projects.
A library is now a place where students can use their imagination and skills to be productive in learning! Our school community is a melting pot from cultures around the world. We are in a Title I community in which 75 percent of our students in one school receive free/reduced breakfast and lunch. The current trends in the school library are allowing students to become thinkers, engineers, and creators.
My Project
What is happening in the real world? Aside from technology booms and innovations, there are still serious world health matters that affect everyone living on Earth daily.
The present generation needs to understand that when there is a natural disaster and certain areas are closed off to rescuers due to dangerous conditions, there has to be another way to help those in need and distress.
This package will allow the students to explore a different side of engineering. It is not just about building a robot or bridges, coding a program, but also about creating ways to help those that are in dire need of supplies when the world is cut off from getting near them.
We will create a health emergency section in the library designated for this project. At this activity table, we will set up the instructions and materials for AirDrop Packages and hope that all the students that are exposed to this activity strive to help others in need.
