As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things fun and engage my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that will encourage them to learn.
My students are ready to be engaged with hands-on STEM activities!
They are excited to explore the world around them and to learn about life for now and for when they are in the real world! These items will help my class by providing resources that will give them a headstart on using their brain and hands to create.
After reading fairy tales, these STEM kits will bring real-world problems and put the students into the story. The students will be able to work together to solve the story problems using the information and materials provided in the kits.
These STEM challenges are beneficial to students, because they ask students to solve situations that are in the books they are reading.
My students often want to know when and where they might use certain skills, and these challenges answer those questions. It is important that my students understand that scientists and engineers are not always in a lab or office. They are out in the world solving it's problems!
