Here is How to Save the Planet and Help a Student At the Same Time!
A box of 150 dry-erase markers from Nasco will cost $134, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Shared writing is a huge part of the balanced literacy program mandated by New York City. Shared writing allows the students to practice a writing skill modeled by the teacher.
In an effort to save paper, P.S. 306 in East New York provides me with dry-erase boards for each student, but no dry-erase markers. Buying several dry-erase markers over the school year can get very costly for my parents, most of who are on fixed incomes.
With your donation I will be able to purchase an ample amount of dry-erase markers to be used for shared writing, math, and most other subjects for all my twenty-one kindergarteners. Remember, you will not only be helping my students but saving the planet too! By using the dry-erase slates my class will be using less paper, thus saving a few trees or even a forest!
