My Students

I am a school counselor that serves students who are growing up with toxic stress and trauma in their daily lives. Many of our students are living in rural poverty. As a result, it has become the school's responsibility to understand and meet the needs of children exposed to trauma. I enjoy working with students and helping them cope with life's challenges. I hope to foster resiliency in every student and create a trauma informed school environment that is sensitive to their needs. I will leader the efforts in my school to share the valuable knowledge and skills gained with teachers and administrators.

My Project

2020 has proven to be a very difficult year as a global pandemic has changed life for students. We've spent large amounts of time at home without a normal routine or socialization in a positive setting like school.

Moving forward we are going to need to help our students process their anxiety, depression, grief and loss of living through a pandemic.

I plan to become a Certified Practioner in Trauma and Resilience as well as Certification to share my knowledge by training other educators. We are not prepared for helping our students after the pandemic. But, with the proper training, we can be prepared to deal with the trauma and build resilience.
