Our students attend a Title I school in South Carolina. All 740 of our amazing students receive free lunch. Therefore, most have limited resources at home and have many hardships to overcome. What they receive at school (food, clothing, love, and a quality education) is of the utmost importance.
Every day our amazing students come to school not just ready to learn, but excited to learn!
It is a privilege to watch them learn and grow at school. Many then take home what they have learned, to teach their younger siblings, and in some cases, teach their parents how to read, or even how to speak English. Their love of learning is contagious!
We are working on building our knowledge of ways to increase reading knowledge and reading intervention within the balanced literacy framework in our classrooms. Our instructional team and reading intervention team teachers are so excited to join us for our new book study as we embark on assisting our readers! We need five sets of Jan Richardson's "The Next Steps Forward in Reading Intervention" to assist us in this endeavor.
With your support, you will not only be helping us grow in our knowledge of reading and reading intervention but you will be helping our students learn how to read or catch up to where they should be reading!
