Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school come from very diverse backgrounds. I teach a group of Gifted and Talented 4th graders. I also mentor other students in other grades. My school is a Title I school, and is also a bilingual school.

Many of our students have experienced some sort of trauma.

Even those that haven't experienced a type of trauma would benefit from these items. Reading these books in the classroom will build relationships, help children stay with the group, follow directions, and access general education content in different ways.

My Project

I am proud to say that my school is piloting trauma-informed and restorative practices this year. We have emotionally-disturbed, neglected, and abused children that desperately need our help.

We have taken the challenge to research possibilities, build relationships, and understand behavior as communication.

By donating to this project, you would be helping me continue my research and use literature to help address some of these issues with my students.

Our staff is committed to addressing this epidemic... by caring, guiding and loving every child that walks through our doors relentlessly. We would love to have more books and sensory materials that help teach these kiddos how to deal with their emotions!
