Helping Students With Disabilities Express Themselves Through Music
My students need a microphone and sound system for our school choir and drama club.
This project expired on December 21, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are brilliant, motivated children who face a daily battle with physical and cognitive disabilities. Every single one of my students has an IEP or 504 plan, and they never stop pushing themselves, working hard, and advocating for their own needs. They dream of learning the skills necessary to survive in today's fast-paced world.
When asked how it felt to be the smartest man alive, Albert Einstein said, "I don't know, you'll have to ask Nikola Tesla." Tesla, the inventor for countless devices that assist modern day life, was himself, Autistic.
With the proper resources and training, he achieved greatness, and affected all of humankind. I truly believe my students have the same potential.
My students need access to the scientific knowledge and experiences that will enable them to take AP science classes in high school, be accepted into top universities, and contribute to the scientific discoveries of the future. With your help, we can acquire the tools and skills necessary to reach those goals.
I am asking for a sound system and microphone for our school's choir and drama club. Elementary schools do not have the luxury of auditoriums designed with acoustics in mind, we have a make shift stage in the cafeteria/gym. We need some amplification and that's where you come in.
Some students are not successful in academics, but all are able to shine on stage.
By having a microphone and speakers, our parents will be able to hear us loud and clear, thus making the performance even more special. Better sound, more applause, more smiling faces, more self confidence. And isn't that what eduction is all about, producing happy, healthy, confident students who feel they are the star of the show.
