Help me give my students with autism items that will help them with their daily needs such as markers, crayons, construction paper, and scissors to complete assignments
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a great group of Autistic children in Kindergarten through second grade. I have been lucky enough to be their teacher throughout their time here. I have been able to watch them grow and really progress socially and academically.
Our school is a Title I school and our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
We don't get much funding, but we would love to give our students the necessary materials to succeed. What most kids take for granted, our kids don’t have. I love to see my students thrive and grow!
My Project
A child with autism is such a unique person. The love and compassion he/she gives off is contagious. Many of my children come from families that struggle to provide the basic necessities, that purchasing basic classroom supplies for his/her child is a struggle. Often times, it becomes the teacher's financial responsibility to provide these items, so their students can succeed in the classroom. Mid-way through the school year, most of these items need to be replaced due to regular wear and tear. By helping me provide these basic items for my students, it lessens the financial burden on the teacher.
These items that I am requesting will benefit the students, to complete lessons, projects and classroom work that is requested of them.
Specifically, these items will help them work towards mastering their IEP goals, with the basic items that are needed. These items will be incorporated into the daily learning within the classroom.
