Ms. Garcia de Quevedo from Mattapan MA is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Chromebooks and covers to protect the Chromebooks.

My students are English Language Learners who have a wide range of English language levels. They are students who are enrolled in general education classes but need support in developing their English language skills in order to excel in their other subjects. About 25% of our students are English language learners between grades K-8.
In order to fully access the grade level curriculum, my students need support in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
This will help them be their most successful in school and their future paths.
I have seen how technology impacts students' motivation and helps them explore areas of learning that most interest them. I have begun using Google Classroom in my teaching which allows me to post lessons for students to access multiple times, including anywhere they have access to the internet. Students can go back to lessons for support with homework and work on long-term projects both in class and on their own time.
At the beginning of the year, students need to learn how to use Google Classroom and other educational tools that we will use but I have seen them become more comfortable with these resources throughout the year, and they are then able to create their own videos, presentations, and projects using other online mediums to research and then share their knowledge with others.
Not all students learn the same way, and using these Chromebooks would allow me to assign each student or group of students different assignments as needed. They can complete these in or out of class and they can keep coming back to work on long-term projects as well.
Students really do become more dedicated to the work if they are able to present their learning in a format that works best for them. Students will also be able to use the work we do with these Chromebooks to help them with their work in their general education classes whenever they have access to the internet.
I can post vocabulary and other English language resources to help them with their reading and writing assignments. Students will be in charge of their own learning, accessing the resources they need for support and using them to guide their work.
