My Students

I teach in a Jr. High with grades 7-9. There are a lot of families that have their own farms whether it be for crops or for animals or even both. Another large portion work in the different trades.

I am the welding teacher so we have a metal shop to get the students introduced to metalwork.

The students are very interested in trying to weld and working on projects of their own. Because of Covid-19, our school has had to move to remote learning all together, as well as individual students have had to quarantine for different periods of time. Because of this, some of the students have missed out on quite a lot of their hands on experiences to start learning how to weld.

My Project

Because of Covid-19, our junior high has done remote learning for a while which has made a hands on shop class not very effective. Since we have been back to face to face classes, we have had quite a lot of students have to be quarantined which has also kept them out of the shop.

Getting these welding helmets will make it so 10 more students will be able to learn about welding first hand.

We are limited on how many students can see what is going on in the welding process because we don't have enough helmets for everyone so they all need to take turns which makes down time for a lot of the students so this will help tremendously.
