Mrs. Prine from Tylertown MS is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the research and activity materials such as the spirit listening center and dictionaries in order to conduct independent research and present/test their findings to the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our students come from various backgrounds and are on the 1st grade level, very creative, and have an eagerness to learn. We live to see their faces when they discover that they are capable of doing more than they realized!
At our school we provide a caring, safe, and energetic learning environment.
We strive to help the students achieve and meet their own individual goals. In doing this, we also encourage students to be creative and healthy! So, let's get moving!
Our 1st grade class has decided after studying the 2016 Olympics that we would like to conduct a research project to see how we can become "healthy individuals" like those on the USA Olympics Team and how to participate in similar activities! To do so, they need certain materials such as the Spirit Listening Center, dictionaries, jump ropes, balls, swing ball set, and equipment pump to aid in our research and presentation/testing of our findings.
This in turn will aide students in learning about the activities and nutrient dense foods that they need to become healthier individuals.
It will encourage them to participate in at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily, and learn to work with others and become team players and strengthen their own self confidence. All of which are essential in many aspects of their life and community. Furthermore, in learning more about nutrient dense foods they will know how to make healthier food choices and when to say no to unhealthy foods that prominent in their lives today, such as chips, cookies, candy, and say yes to fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and etc.
Ultimately, they would like to conduct their own 2016 Olympics here at the school later on this school year! I believe this project, would be a great tool in encouraging them to become the best individuals they can be and help their minds and bodies grow. A healthy body equals a healthy mind ....and a better tomorrow for each of them!
