I work in a bilingual, head start program in a section of Philadelphia. All my children come from low income families with limited resources to further their education. My students are very special to me. They come to school every day with a smile on their face and ready to give hugs to teachers in the room. They have a love for learning and enjoy hands-on materials to help them accomplish specific concepts in all content areas. They are growing each day and with this continuous growth, it is my responsibility to challenge them throughout the school year. With our limited budget, this can at times be very difficult. With your help and support, I can help shape our future leaders!
My Project
As a preschool teacher, many children come to school with a limited vocabulary. No matter how much I build relationships with my children, some of them are very shy and non-verbal.
It is imperative for me to track student progress and help each of them accomplish new goals.
When children explore educational applications on the iPad, I can track their progress and observe their learning in a way that is comfortable for them.
All children learn different and for some children it is easier to show what they are capable of doing rather than communicate it. The iPad will help these children succeed at their own rate.
