My K-3rd grade students attend our charter school in the financial and academic district of Camden, New Jersey. Our school focuses on personal excellence in education and our students are a mirror of these principals. Our students are wonderful kids who love learning, creating and developing.
Most of my students come from homes without computers and limited or no internet access.
This fact, creates a sense of urgency, as a teacher, to provide the students with as much technological experiences possible.
My Project
My students complain every day that our old, large earphones hurt their ears and are difficult to use. I teach 480 K-3 Urban children technology one time per week as a Special . My students come from homes that mostly lack computer technology.
My class is the only time that most of my young students get the opportunity to use a computer and have access to internet.
I want to provide an enriching technological experience for them. Right now, our computers are about 12 years old and the earphones are 12 years old as well. We are hoping to get new computers next year, but in the meantime, my students would love to have new earphones that are more comfortable and work properly. My students appreciate everything that is given to them and would be so thrilled to use new earphones! It seems like a small thing to wish for, but it really is BIG for us! New earphones will help my students enjoy the computers more .
