Shouldn’t 21st century learners have access to the tech tools they need? We are lucky to have a the start of a STEAM lab in our Media Center this year. My students will use littleBits to learn hands-on about topics they are interested in and need in order to be college and career ready.
We are a small district in New Jersey that is growing quickly, 42% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
Our school has a culturally diverse mix of students. One third of our students speak another language at home. While my students are bright and eager to learn, they feel left behind in today's world where they hear of other students who attend tech enriched schools.
Students will have the opportunity to use the littleBits during STEAM Lab and during other open STEAM periods that are currently being worked into the schedule. Students in the Gifted and Talented program will also benefit from these materials as well.
Our students are really interested in learning about coding. Due to a tight budget we are limited to what we can order. We want to create an area where students can explore what they are interested in learning. This requested littleBits kit will allow students to build background knowledge with coding. As we learn more about coding we can expand upon this littleBits kit. LittleBits will also encourage Science and Technology classes to utilize the media center, and we can pair projects with littleBits and circuit related research.
Having litlleBits would be a step in the right direction of ensuring that my students will get to experience hands on 21st century learning through STEAM curriculum.
Their love of learning needs to be supported in every way possible. Please help me level the playing field for my students by donating to this project today.
