Helping K'NEX Students to 21st Century STEAM Skills
Help me give my students opportunities to discover their passion for engineering, and math through k'nex. With these tools, they will be able to develop their creativity and learn about these 21st Century Skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth graders are part of a passionate group of learners at our school. They are predominantly English Language Learners and many of them receive free and reduced lunches. They love to read and are learning how to persevere.
We are scholars, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, engineers, historians, and actors!
My students are free to be themselves and follow their passions.
My students love interacting with younger students - being the big buddy is new to them in the fourth grade and they relish that role. They love helping and making the world a better place through their work.
My Project
When polled 24/25 of my students had no clue what an engineer was or did! It's time to change that and put the power of discovery of what an engineer does into their own hands with k'nex! These former toys are now tools that many universities, including Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, are using to help their architectural engineers learn about their craft.
My students love to build and discover their world - these tools would help them bridge these two passions through natural and meaningful exploration!
Please consider helping my students learn more about their technology and math through k'nex in our classroom. Opportunities like learning about engineering are far and few between for them; help me introduce them to a world of infinite possibilities where the sky is the limit and limits must be tested.
I plan to use these tools to create STEM challenges for my students each month to collaborate and test new ideas, while discovering new academic areas for their futures.
