My students need to build their vocabulary and reading stamina. I have found that books in a series and the use of technology with Flocabulary help create goals for students to achieve success!
My students need a variety of books to increase the volume of reading so they can master reading skills and vocabulary can be enhanced. I would love to have a subscription of Flocabulary to help engage students in the learning process.
I love nurturing my students' love of reading!
Even more so, I love watching students become absorbed in books! A typical day involves four classes rotating into my classroom for one hour of Reading instruction. I love using picture books and novels to teach the fourth grade standards to my students.
I teach in a very low socio-economic area where parents are financially unable to purchase books or technology applications for their children.
It is my desire to make sure they always have access to books and engaging activities in my class. They get so excited when they come into the classroom and see new books. My school partners with me in instilling a love of reading in the students, but we have very limited funds to purchase books and individual teacher applications such as Flocabulary.
My Project
My students will read Books in Series books to increase their volume of reading and to master many fourth grade standards. I love seeing students getting excited about reading!
My students love books in a series.
They come to know the characters in a book and they get excited to continue to read about adventures with Harry Potter or The Series of Unfortunate Events. Through the books, we will also analyze the characters and what motivates them. It is crucial that students be able to analyze characters and plot and this is a perfect and engaging way to do it, along with building vocabulary!
