My Project

Many of the students I work with are often hungry. During the school day we do what we can by providing breakfast, lunch and a snack. Sometimes this is the only time students eat. At LS the student support team and the cafeteria have started that back pack club. We would like your help to keep this program running.Our main goal is to fill a backpack for families in need of food. By providing basic needs for students we are making them emotionally available to learn.

Being hungry can affect the way students learn and regulate their emotions during the school day.

The foods that I have chosen like rice, pasta, mac and cheese, and soup are easy meals that our students can manage on their own. Some of the snacks are also made to be easier on the child. I hope that you can help us continue to grow our backpack program and ease the learning minds of our students from wondering where their next meal will come from when at home.
